Nottingham City Guide

Nottingham lies on the River Leen and is a city located in the East Midlands around 150 miles north of London with a population of around 290,000.

The centre of the city is the Old Market Square with the main shopping streets coming off the square. There is plenty of choice for shoppers and with the famous local designer Paul Smith, the city has become known as the Milan of the Midlands.

The city is also gaining acclaim for its booming restaurant scene with a wide veriaty of culinary delites and even has a Michelin starred restaurant.

Nottingham also has a wide choice of night life with many trendy bars and a range of clubs to suit all, and with a large student population this should not be a suprise. Whatever your taste in music you should be able to find a venue to suit your taste.


The world’s most notorious outlaw,Robin Hood is famed for links with Nottingham and there are many related things to see and do in Nottingham, such as visiting Sherwood Forest and Nottingham Castle.

Nottingham city is also known as the city of caves or place of caves, as underneath the city are a whole new world of caves and tunnels many used in Anglo Saxon times. This set of man made caves was almost lost when the modern shopping centre was built.
